We provide free, confidential legal advice and information to EEA nationals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping, on their legal rights in relation to their immigration position, destitution and homelessness, and potential exploitation.
We also aim to increase professionals’ understanding in these areas by providing free training and support to frontline organisations supporting destitute and homeless individuals in Edinburgh.
The project was launched in November 2017 as a three-month pilot, supported on a pro bono basis by all three collaboration partners, in order to meet an immediate and urgent need to provide legal advice and support. JRS’ contribution has been made possible through grant funding by The Legal Education Foundation.

What we do
The EEA Street Homelessness Project provides the following services:
- Free, confidential legal advice to EEA nationals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping
- Free, confidential second tier advice to frontline organisations in Edinburgh supporting these individuals
- Contribution to our understanding of barriers facing these individuals in accessing rights information and advice, through collation and analysis of data, to be shared at a free public event at the end of the pilot
- Dissemination of information on the rights of EEA nationals vulnerable to destitution and homelessness through public legal education and professional training
How to get in touch
We offer one-to-one appointments with an experienced immigration solicitor and housing solicitor, hosted at Streetwork’s Holyrood Hub, fortnightly on a Thursday morning. The pilot will run from November 2017- January 2018.
